  • My dearest Marygold...
  • Yes father?
  • The things I would do for more gold...
  • I would like everything I touch to turn to gold!
  • Ah, the Golden Touch, is it? Your wish will be granted at the first beam of sunlight.
  • Hello King Midas, I came here to grant you one wish, and one wish only. What will that be?
  • The setting is in The King Midas' kingdom with him and his daughter. This provides the atmosphere of a homey and medieval enviornment. This is important because it helps show that this takes place long, long ago.
  • My dearest! What ever have I done?
  • The story displays emotion in this scene by showing that the king is not grateful for the gold that he already has. He is not pleased with the amount of gold he is currently set with and wants more. He is feeling ungrateful and displeased, and will do whatever is possible to obtain more gold.
  • Ah I see. Bathe in this water to rid yourself of the Golden Touch, and pour this water over anything you want turned back to normal.
  • Please take this curse away! I just want my baby back!
  • This scene/part depicts the element of dialogue by showing the King and the Stranger conversing over, what seems to the king, as a great opportunity for more gold. The dialogue helps carry on to the main idea of the story. As shown, the King asks for the Golden Touch.
  • My dearest daughter, I love you so much.
  • I love you too, father.
  • This scene helps depict the conflict of the story. After receiving his wish of the Golden Touch, Midas is unpleasantly shocked to find that he no longer can find happiness in normal things, like eating food or even feeling flowers. He touches Marygold once, and she is turned to gold, left stone-cold and unconscious. Midas is extremely upset.
  • This scene/part depicts the irony of the story. Midas thought that his gold wasn't enough, and so he thought the Golden Touch was the greatest gift he could've asked for. But because of the kings greed and ignorance, he unknowingly put upon himself a curse, quite the opposite of what he thought he was getting. This brings us to the theme.
  • This scene shows everything gone back to normal, and Midas showing the appreciation to the important things in life. The king now understands the consequences of his greed. And this concludes to the theme of the story, don't be greedy, appreciate what you already have, because you never know when it can be taken away from you.
