- Alfredo attends a party hosted by his childhood friend, Brigida, and her family. At the party, he meets Julia Salas, an old flame of his, who is now married to a US-based businessman. Alfredo is taken aback by Julia's beauty and charm and begins to have feelings for her once again.
- FALLING ACTION
- I am afraid that it might be our last time to talk.
- Alfredo is torn between his loyalty to Esperanza and his rekindled feelings for Julia. He feels guilty for his attraction to Julia but cannot help but be drawn to her.
- CLIMAX
- Congratulations on your marriage. I should have told you about it sooner.
- Esperanza can now feel Alfredo's absence from her side due to the developing intimacy between him and Julia as they grow more at ease with one another. But Alfredo disputes this, telling her lover that he is merely preoccupied because of some personal issues as a result.
- When he learns of Julia's return to his hometown. Out of concern for losing Julia, Alfredo decides to try to convey his actual affection for her. But then it comes to his mind that he is bound to choose just one since he is engaged.
