- I've always loved animals ever since I was a little boy and I am very please that we have many pets but I must say that Pluto has to be my favorite.
- How delightful.
- Ugh, you and all of our pets expect Pluto have gotten so annoying, out of my sight!
- He is drunk again...Hopefully he won't get violent...
- Pluto! Why are you ignoring my presences?!?
- Fine...You leave me no choice but to get violent with you!
- The narrator has always loved animals ever since he was a little kid. When he gets married he and his wife have lots of pets. His favorite, in particular, is Pluto a big black cat.
- Our house!!
- The narrator reveals he is an alcoholic and has become very violent towards his wife and pets except for Pluto.
- How dare you try to stop me from killing this cat! He deserves to die!
- One night the narrator comes home drunk and thinks Pluto is avoiding him so he attacks Pluto and cuts one of his eyes out. He feels ashamed after what he has done to Pluto but the shame doesn't last long. Pluto begins to avoid the narrator and the narrator becomes very annoyed by it.
- What is the meaning of this?!?
- Oh no...
- The narrator becomes very angry that Pluto is ignoring him so he hangs him from a tree and believes it was for the best. Later that night the narrator's entire house burns down and is left with nothing. The next day he visits the ruins of the house and finds a picture of a cat with a rope around its neck on the only standing wall, he is frightened but doesn't think much of it.The narrator then begins to search for a new cat and finds a large black one with white fur on its chest.
- The cat follows him home and took a great liking to the narrator but because of the guilt, the narrator has for what he did to the previous cat he dislikes it. Even though he ignored the cat it still followed him everywhere. One day when the narrator and his wife were heading to the cellar the cat trips him. He becomes angry thatthe cat tripped him and tries to kill it with an axe but is stop by his wife and in a rage kills her instead.
- The narrator then hides her body within the walls of the cellar. He believes that the cat ran away and doesn't worry much about it. The police arrive 3 days later and search his house, they find nothing and as they begin to leave the narrator brags about how well constructed the house is. Just then they hear and terrifying scream coming from within the walls. The police open it up and find his dead wife along with the cat.
