  • The Estates General took place in Versailles on May 5, 1789. The meeting started the French Revolution. The assembly started of three estates the clergy, nobility, commoners. The commoners who had the power to decide on the levying of new taxes and to undertake reforms in the country. The Comte de Mirabeau called the meeting in May 5, 1789.

  • The Estates General (traditional assembly) at the beginning of the French Revolution. The tennis court oath was a commitment to a national constitution and representative government, taken by delegates at the Estates-General at Versailles. Tennis Court Oath were the radicalisation of the revolution, changing of the laws and war with Austria. The tennis court oath still affects to this day. The tennis court oath affected many of things.

  • The Storming of Bastille was an event that occurred in Paris, France, on the afternoon of 14 July 1789, when revolutionaries stormed and seized control of the medieval armory. It was the beggining of the French revolution. The reason why the rebel Parisians stormed the Bastille was not to free any prisoners but to get ammunition and arms. At the time, over 30,000 pounds of gunpowder was stored at the Bastille. But to them, it was also a symbol of the monarchy's tyranny.

It is a fundamental document of the French Revolution that granted civil rights to some commoners, although it excluded a significant segment of the French population. It also reconizes and proclaims.
  • Concerned over the high price and scarcity of bread, women from the marketplaces of Paris led the March on Versailles on October 5, 1789. This became one of the most significant events of the French Revolution, eventually forcing the royals to return to Paris. Encouraged by revolutionary agitators, they ransacked the city armory for weapons and marched to the Palace of Versailles. The Women's March on Versailles was an important event at the start of the French Revolution. It gave the revolutionaries confidence in the power of the people over the king. In 1789 France, the main food of the commoners was bread.
  • The Flight to Varennes served as a major journee because it showed the National Assembly as well as the French people. While the Assembly had every intention of creating a limited or constitutional monarchy, after June 1791, such an idea became increasingly suspect. The French royal family attempted to flee the country in order to avoid retribution from the revolutionaries. This was a major event in the French Revolution as it led to the eventual deaths of both Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. The flight of the royal family through an unguarded door of the Tuileries Palace on the night of June 20, 1791, their arrest at Varennes in eastern France.
