- The Ordinary World is basically the introduction to the main character and reveals the setting and some clues to what is happening. This stage shows what the main character what their daily or ordinary life looks like

- In this stage Percy is at Yancey Academy with his friend, Grover and he talks about their field trip to a Greek Museum led by his Latin teacher, Mr. Brunner. He gives a little background and also tells about when Ms. Dodds turns into a weird creature which frightens him and as he continues his life at school he is sad and homesick. Eventually he is no longer allowed to come back to Yancey and he spends time with his mom and Smelly Gabe. His mother and him go to a beach to spend time together like they used to. Until something happens.
