Rome is perfect, it is peaceful, quiet, powerful, and we even made our own government, a Republic.

We still need Sicily!

We have all of this power already, why not reign Sicily too.

Even though Carthage was better at sea, the Romans brought land to sea by using bridges to connect boats. The Romans won the first battle by fighting people on Carthage’s boats.

Hannibal Barca lead an army with elephants through Spain to Rome. Hannibal’s army was weakened when they were near Rome, so Rome sent an army to Carthage to destroy Carthage. Romans reached Carthage with Hannibal on their tail, so they fought and the Romans won.

Cato the Elder insisted that they demolish Carthage so they have no chance of coming back. The Romans destroyed Carthage completely, and now Rome has reign over everything that Carthage reigned.

As a result of the Punic Wars, Rome now has power over Sardinia, Corsica, Sicily, and they have easy access to Asia Minor, North Africa, and the Iberian Peninsula.
