- Sikkim is the least populated state in India, and is located amidst the Himalayas, and is bordered by Bhutan, Nepal, West Bengal, Tibet. It is one of the most beautiful and richly cultured state. It has 11 official languages and a wide range of rituals and is known for its historical heritages and simplicity. Sikkim’s indigenous population includes the Lepchas, Limbus and other tribes. One of the most welcoming feature about Sikkim is the presence of a variety of color in the state. Every street and road is filled with prayer flags of various colors. The 5 colors of prayer flags represent the5 basic elements: yellow which represents earth, green which signifies water, red which illustrates fire, white which symbolizes air and blue which signifies the space. It is said that if we balance all these elements externally, then it would bring harmony and peace to the environment and by balancing them internally it would bring health and purity to the body and the mind. In Sikkim, Hindu Temples coexist with Buddhist Monasteries, Churches, Mosques and Gurudwaras. The people of Sikkim are extremely warm, well-mannered, and welcoming and live a simple and content lifestyle.
