During class demonstration, Oersted investigated that a current carrying wire caused to magnetized by a compass needle to deflect and creates magnetic fields.
Hans Christian Oersted
Magnetic Fields
Andre Marie Ampere
He demonstrated the magnetic effect based on the direction of current. Ampere’s theory is called electrodynamics. It states that when the two parallel portions of a circuit attract one another if the currents in them are flowing in the same direction and repel one another if the current flows in the opposite direction.
Electrodynamics
He formulated the Electromagnetic Wave Theory which explained that light electric current should be capable of radiating energy in the form of electromagnetic waves.
James Clerk Maxwell
Electromagnetic Wave Theory
Faraday conducted induction experiment showing the effect of currents on magnets. Based on his studies found that the magnetic field created around a conductor carried a direct current, thereby establishing the basis for the concept of electromagnetic field in physics. This is the key principle in understanding the application of electricity.
Electromagnetic Induction
Michael Faraday
Heinrich Hertz
He demonstrated that the electromagnetic waves performed by Maxwell exist. He showed evidence of electromagnetic wave and links it to light. The discovery of electromagnetic waves led to the development of the radio. In recognition of his contributions, his name was used as an SI unit for wave frequency which is equivalent to cycle/second, or the unit is hertz (Hz).
