Hi Mr. Sham, how are you? I am Amar. Can you please tell me some methods how you conserve soil?
Hi Amar, nice to meet you. Sure, I will tell you our farming methods which we use to save soil. Come with me.
For irrigation we have micro irrigation project which includes drip irrigation and sprinklers.
(Amar and Mr. Sham walks towards the farm and also meet Suzy.)
Oh, Wow! This method is really helpful. It really has so many beneficial effects on soil fertility and nutrient cycling.
First, we use -Intercropping, in which we grow two or more crops at the same time making use of resources that would otherwise not be utilized by a single crop.
Yes, Soils of Telangana are well-drained and moderately well-drained and give a favorable environment for soil fertility management.
Next we plant Windbreaks. They prevent soil erosion by slowing the force of wind over open ground.
Yes, it will increase trees which prevents soil erosion because of high winds or floods.
(They walk towards more farms.)
And meet Suzy, she will tell you more about windbreaks.
Hi Amar. They are commonly planted in hedgerows around the edges of fields on farms.
Strip cropping is planting and growing of crops in alternating strips. The strips are systematically arranged across a field as close to the contour as possible.
It would help as certain layers of plants will absorb minerals and water from the soil more effectively using this method.
(They also went to Mr. Raghu to know more about their farming practices.)
Strip cropping agriculture is used to improve soil health.
(Amar leaves the farm and was very happy to know about all these methods to conserve soil.)
Wow! These farming practices are really good for soil. Thank you Mr. Sham and Raghu for this help. Bye.
