- Scrooge is in his bedroom, the hour is struck by a street clock and the first spirit appears. The spirit is dressed to look like the little girl's doll.

- Scrooge takes the hand of the spirit.

But he'll be all right, grow out of it. yes. Yes, he did outgrow it, the nonsense. Became a man and . . . yes, successful . . . rich! Never matter . . . never matter."
- Fan, runs in and goes to Scrooge.
