- The Revolution
- Louis XVI was beheaded for treason in 1793. A constitution was drawn up for France to be ruled by 5 directors. In 1799, however, Napoleon Bonaparte overthrew the Directory and became the ruler of France.
- We got power back from the Catholic church!
- We gained dignity and status!
- It put an end to feudalism!
- Feudalism is when people work and fight for nobles in exchange for protection and land

- However, while things changed, it wasn't too noticeable for some people
- Those who hadn't owned land in the first place didn't see much change

- Yes, just not for everyone. And not quite to the grand scale they'd been hoping for.
- So, in the end, there was good change right?

- I'm Napoleon Bonaparte, a military hero. Not to brag, but I practically saved France. I ended up ruling France as emperor from 1804 to 1814.
- The actual conflict didn't end until 1815, at my defeat at Waterloo.

- Sure, there was a lot more equality.
- Stability isn't quite what took place in the post-revolutionary era.
- But after Napoleon died, King Louis XVIII took power.

- After all the back and forth and chaos, France parted from the monarchy, however.
- But those who hadn't started out with much land didn't receive much.
- So in conclusion, the people of France gained freedom, got rid of the monarchy, and received more resources.
- So the French Revolution didn't put an end to all instability and uncertainty around the monarchy.
- Therefore, the French Revolution resulted in a minor reformation in France, one step towards a more stable, democratic society.
