Dwayne's Rock Cycle Adventure

- Hello, my name is Dwayne! I'm about to go on this epic virtual reality adventure that will take me through the steps of the rock cycle!
- I was teleported down beneath the Earth's crust and became magma. It looks like I've just started the process of becoming an igneous rock! Wow!
- Now, I have to wait until the volcano erupts so I can make my way to the surface! This will make it easy for me to cool and solidify! This is how I'm going to go through my first stage of this virtual reality activity, which is becoming an extrusive igneous rock!
- The next step I'm going to go through is weathering. Wind and water have already started to break me apart and turn me into small pieces (sediments). After, erosion will transport the pile of sediments which is what I currently am in the form of.
- The final steps of becoming a sedimentary rock are compaction and cementation. The sediments are going to squeeze together. This is compaction. Then, cementation will help fill in all the empty spaces.
- This virtual reality headset makes everything feel so realistic! The final type of rock I can become is a metamorphic rock. Heat and pressure are key components in the creation of metamorphic rocks. Next up, I will go through rock metamorphism to become a metamorphic rock and complete the rock cycle.
- I have teleported deep underground to begin the process of rock metamorphism. It's getting hot in here! The heat is extreme at this stage.
- Finally, I can take the headset off now! That was fun, but I'm exhausted! I hope you enjoyed the adventure we just went through, I did!
- Now that I am a more compact rock, I'm getting very close to completing the full rock cycle. The tectonic plates will rub together and create heat and pressure. I now know how it feels to go through the rock cycle and become each type of rock thanks to this super high tech VR headset.
