Interviews with 2 Texas AM students on their experience with class registration as well as 1 SGA representative with their thoughts on the matter.
According to the Massachussetts Daily Collegian "In order to resolve the issues associated with course registration, one needs to address the root of the problem, and most of the issues discussed above are resultant from a scarcity of teaching professors. The current system needs to be reevaluated and a different system, in which the difficulties students face are minimized, must be devised"
Because this is an institutional issue due to lack of staffing, there is not much we as a student body we can do to help fill teaching vacancies. What we can do, however, is prepare ourselves for class registration by creating backup schedules, and if you still cannot get into a class, downloading class tracking apps such as Coursicle can help you make sure you get into all the classes you need for next semester! This is more of a "right now" solution, so in order to see changes in the long-run, we must voice our concerns to groups that can do something about the matter. For example, there is a feedback form on the SGA website that allows students to give feedback on anything AM related and allow their voices to be heard through SGA representatives!
