- This scene demonstrates how George manages to always stick by Lenny's side no matter what, although Lenny is the cause of them running away and potentially not letting George achieve his dream. George sticks with Lenny and doesn't give him to the police for what he did, he shows compassion and demonstrates that their friendship means more than a dream and than any other materialistic thing.
- In this scene, Lenny gets into a fight with Curley, and George is on the side telling him to fight. Although George isn't helping Lenny, he is on the side telling Lenny to fight knowing that it can possibly cost them their job since curly's is the boss son. This shows George's companionship to Lenny because instead of staying quiet and not supporting Lenny he yells out and convinces him to fight and protect himself, possibly risking all they have worked for.
- In this scene, George and Lenny are behind a bush hiding from the rest of the men. After Lenny killed Curly's wife, George knows that the men are behind Lenny to torture or turn him into the police. Knowing Lenny's conditions and his disability and that he wouldn't be able to survive jail or being tortured. George protects him by being the one to comfort Lenny and killing him without any pain. Although this may not seem like a thing a friend does it show that George chose to protect his friend from torture and harm instead of choosing to go by the other men's side to find Lenny and keep working with them to get his dream fulfilled.
