- French fur traders settled in South Carolina. The French wanted to trade with the Cherokee. But the British had other idea's.

- The British made a treaty with the Cherokee tribe. The British did this to stop the French from trading with the Cherokee. Afterwards their was 30 years of peace.

- The Cherokee thought the treaty meant they where equals with the British. However the British thought they controlled the Cherokee. Then the treaty changed when a war happened.

- In 1754 the French and Indian war happened. This happened because the British and French wanted control of land. Which led to the Cherokee wanting protection from the war.

- When the Cherokee asked Britain for protection from the french, the British did not give it to them. This led to the Cherokee stealing horses from the settles. The settles attacked and the Cherokee attacked back causing the Cherokee war.

- The Cherokee war lasted about two years , but the Cherokee lost. And later as the french and Indian war ended both the Cherokee and french lost their land. In the end the British got more land and won both wars.
