They're moving Tom Robinson to the Maycomb County Jail.
Friends of Atticus tell him that Tom Robinson is being moved to the Maycomb County Jail, where he could be in danger because of his opposers.
Come on guys, I think Atticus might be in trouble.
Jem worries about where Atticus is going that night so he attempts to sneak out but Scout catches him so he's forced to take her and Dill with him.
The kids find Atticus in front of the jail and then a large group of angry men show up and demand that Atticus just move out of the way and let them in the jail. Scout is furious and runs to Atticus to defend him.
Stay here, don't let Atticus see us.
Scout asks Mr.Cunningham to say hi to his son Walter for her, and other similar, naive sayings for this situation which shocks the men, including Mr.Cunningham.
Say hi to Walter for me!
After Jem refuses to leave when Atticus tells him to and Scout talks to Mr.Cunningham the men leave. Atticus decides that since the men left Tom Robinson will be safe for the night and it was time to go home.
I don't get it, I was just trying to make conversation.
Let's go home.
Good job Jem I'm proud of you.
While walking home Atticus puts his arm around Jem as a sign that he is proud of him for not going home when he said to, which confuses Scout.
