MEANWHILE..... at Hawkins University dept of Public health
Hi professor, we are the assigned group of researchers that will be conducting research to assist in substantiating a mass vaccine campaign.
Thank you for briefing me on your intended proposal; the faculty looks forward to engaging on the results.
We have decided to embark on a mixed methods approach to help make the decision
We will be using an online cross-sectional survey, focus groups, and semi-structured interviews to gather data.

As you all know, we have been battling with COVID-19 for the past years, and we are now looking into a mass vaccine campaign. We're conducting interviews to gather your experiences and perceptions of vaccines. Can you share your experiences and why you chose to have the vaccine?
Researchers set up focus groups and semi-structured interviews
It was a heartbreaking experience because I lost my grandmother. That's when I realised the seriousness of the virus. So I was motivated to get the vaccine to protect my vulnerable family and friends, and to prevent them from experiencing the same loss
WELCOME TO THIS FOCUS GROUP:Why did you chose to get the vaccine
It was frightening to me as I contracted the virus and experienced severe symptoms. That is why I chose to get the vaccine- to avoid it happening again.
Given my age and having hypertension, I was concerned about contracting the virus and it's severe symptoms- hence me opting to get the vaccine.

WELCOME TO THIS FOCUS GROUP:Why did you chose Not to get the vaccine
We don't believe in western medicine like vaccines.
We're conducting interviews to gather your experiences and perceptions of vaccines. Can you share your experiences and why you chose to NOT have the vaccine?
The stereotype around the disease made me scared and I have a phobia towards needles, hence my hesitation to get the vaccine.
There are too many theories about the Vaccine; including the fact that it was created by the government to reduce the population. That's why I am hesitant to get the vaccine.

The vaccination is one of the most effective tools in fighting the virus- the more people that get vaccinated, the fewer opportunities the virus has to spread and mutate into more dangerous variants. By getting vaccinated you are playing an active role in ending the pandemic.
THEATRE ROSTER
Doctors, we are conducting research on the COVID-19 Vaccine; why would you motivate that society should get the vaccine?
The vaccine has been proven to significantly reduce the risks of severe illness, hospitalisation and fatalities; especially in vulnerable groups like the elderly and immunocompromised people.

Let's start with compiling 10 questions to assess participant's knowledge on vaccinations. This will be administered as an online cross-sectional survey.
A good starting point is a TRUE or FALSE question, like: Vaccines contain live viruses that can cause the diseases they are meant to prevent.... the answer is FALSE
How about another one where you have to select the correct option? Something like: (a)vaccines are only necessary for young children; (b) Vaccines are important for all people of all ages; or (c) Vaccines are not needed once you have had the disease? ...... The correct option would be (b)
As the public health professionals had chosen a mixed method approach for their research, some researchers proceeded to concurrently work on questions for an online survey for their quantitative component of the study

How about another TRUE/FALSE one?Maybe we could ask whether Vaccines strengthen the immune system by helping the body develop resistance to specific diseases?
While you guys add questions; I can start documenting them.
I have a good one; What is the primary benefit of herd immunity?(a) It protects only vaccinated individuals;(b) it reduces the spread of infectious diseases across the entire population;or (c) It eliminates the need for personal vaccines?

Question 5 could be a TRUE/FALSE question.... Vaccines undergo rigorous testing for safety and efficiency before being approved for public use- TRUE or FALSE?
Q1 Q2Q3Q4Q5Q6
NICE!!!
And Question 6 could be....select the correct answer for: Which of the following diseases has been eradicated globally due to vaccination; (a) Smallpox;(b) Polio; or (c) Measles ?

Q1 Q2Q3Q4Q5Q6
Question 7 could also be a TRUE/FALSE one..... Vaccines can cause long-term side effects that are more dangerous than the disease they prevent.
That's definitely FALSE?
Question 8 could then follow as a "select the correct option"; Why are booster shots sometimes needed after a vaccination?(a) to protect against new strains;(b) because vaccines wear off over time;(c) Both "a" and "b"
I'd say the answer is (c) ?

Our final two questions could be a TRUE/FALSE question and a "select the best option" question. The TRUE/FALSE one could be: Vaccination is only necessary in countries with high disease transmission rates.
Q7 Q8q9q10
Q1 Q2q3q4q5q6
The final question could be: Which of the following is the most effective way to prevent the spread of vaccine-preventable diseases; (a) Isolating individuals with symptoms; (b) widespread vaccination coverage; or (c) Natural exposure to the disease.

Report Title:Evidence Based on a Mixed Method Research Study to Support a Mass Vaccination Campaign.
We are almost done collating our data, after nearly 6 months
The researchers worked on collecting and preparing data from the surveys and interviews.
After months of research, the team presented their report and findings to Hawkins University dept of Public health
Professor, on behalf of our research team, we are pleased to hand over this report. Our mixed-method research approach gave us enough insight to ensure an objective response and set of data. We are also pleased to advise that the outcome supports a Mass Vaccination campaign.
