- Wow, I did not know that Hinduism worships many Gods. In Islam, we believe in one God. God has no family, was not created by a being, and there is no other God. We also believe in the holy books, angels, prophets, Day of Judgement, and predestination.
- So Anya, I would like to know if Hinduism believes in Allah like Islam does or if you have another God?
- In Islam, there are 5 Islamic prophets named Noah, Abraham, Jesus, Moses, and Muhammad. They are very important to our religion because of the actions they did. Noah survived the flood because of his arc and rebuilt civilization. He warned people of their sinful ways. Abraham got scriptures from God and used them to teach people to abandon idolatry. Jesus had many teachings and is returning in the future to help humanity. Moses got God’s law and had many miracles. Muhammad was the last prophet to convey divine wisdom and completed the teachings of others before him.
- No actually, I believe in many Gods. In Hinduism, we don't have one God. Our Supreme Being is Brahman which is a genderless God who cannot be seen or described. This is why we have many Gods: because everyone views Brahman differently.
- That is so interesting! What is the day of judgement?
- Who are the prophets?
- The day of judgement is a day where Muslims are tested to see if they will be going to heaven or hell.
- In Islam we don't believe in rebirth but it is an interesting concept and I respect your beliefs.
- Predestination is something that us Muslims believe in. It is that Allah has the knowledge of everything that will happen in the present and the future but this shouldn't stop us from making our own choices.
- I have many questions! What rituals and practices do you perform in Hinduism?
- I respect your beliefs as well. Also, what is predestination?
- We don't have that because in Hinduism we believe in reincarnation which is a process called Samsara. The order is birth, death, and then rebirth.
- I've learned so many things so far, it's great! Do you have any questions for me?
- Diwali sounds very fun because of the lights and celebrations! In Islam all over the world, we celebrate Eid Al Adha. It is a celebration to mark the conclusion of the pilgrimage to Mecca. It is a festival of sacrifice because it is when us Muslims think about the story Prophet Abraham.
- Yes, they really are. I have another question Anya. What causes suffering and how can you escape it?
- Suffering is caused when you fail to follow the will of Brahman. In Hinduism, you don't realize that the world is an isolation but once you do, you can see the world more clearly except for Brahman. Realizing is what makes you escape from the suffering of the world.
- Diwali is a very important and famous festival in Hinduism. It means a row of lights and is celebrated during the Hindu new year. This takes place in either October or November and is 5 days long. Colourful lights are strung along with other decorations and even fireworks! The light is significant to get abundance and wealth blessings from Lakshmi.
- Festivals bring so much spirit to the religion and are a great way to bring everyone together!
- The beliefs on suffering is similar in Islam although it is failing to follow the will of Allah and not Brahman.
- We have many laws that help us to have a deeper and stronger connection with ourselves and Allah. Veiling is common for some Muslim women where they cover every part of their body including their faces behind a veil and other women only cover their hair in public.
- We have something very similar in Hinduism! Some women cover their hair in public including Sikh women.
- Even though religions have different stances on subjects, there are still always going to be similar beliefs in some ways which is interesting.

- Of course! Kama is a celebration of love and physical pleasure to help marriages and to balance life. Artha is a craving for money and wealth but most seek something deeper because it is not fulfilling. Dharma is leading your duties in life without greed, jealousy, and cruelty but instead with purity, goodness, and tranquility. This is limited though because of how the world is an illusion. Moksha is being free from rebirth and is the ultimate goal for many Hindus.
- We also have four goals in life. They are called Kama, Artha, Dharma, and Moksha.
- That is a great question. Ethical life in Hinduism is very important. We respect our elders and parents because of their wisdom and sacrifices. We worship daily. We feed animals because they are sacred. We recite scripture through sacred text to learn lessons and we help the poor.
