- Lida is about 10 years old. She is always worried about her sister no matter what. Lida works for Inge sewing uniforms and bed sheets. She has a crusty red dress that she has to put on after she changes out of her uniform. She is very caring, and she always puts others first. She is very urging and always tries to convince people. She is from Ukraine, but the Nazi soldiers and guards say it is not a country.
- Juli was a very nice person. She worked at the hospital. She always felt bad for the patients because she knew what happened to them. She comforted the people at the hospital, so they would not feel alone. She saved everyone's life by sacrificing her own. She comforted Lida when she was sad and never gave up for their freedom.

- Adolf Hitler was the leader of the Germans. He is mainly known for killing a lot of Jews and for starting WWII. He wanted to have all the Germans have blonde hair and blue eyes. Even if someone wasn't German and had blonde hair and blue eyes they were going to be put in German families. Hitler was accused of many things after WWI, and it caused him to be so angry with he world that he started WWII.
