The servants must be drunk, I have drugged them. That death and nature do contend about them. Whether they live or die. Surely Macbeth will have an easy time with Duncan
oh no hes dead
IS HE DEAD?
I only heard the wails of a cricket and the screams of an owl.Now tell me, what happened?
Our plan is complete. Did you hear anything strange?
Lady Macbeth imagines her husband killing Duncan as she speaks. She recalls how easy this murder must be for Macbeth, since she drugged the servants.
What nonsense!
This is a sorry sight.
Macbeth kills King Duncan and starts to feel guilty for his deed. He goes to discuss his actions and the noises he hears with his wife.
I will not go back, I do not want to look at what I have done.
Now go wash this filthy evidence from your hands and put the daggers back in Duncan's room.
You must stop thinking about what you have done or it will make us both mad.
Although Lady Macbeth fears that Duncan's murder is unsuccessful, Macbeth enters holding a bloody dagger and reassures her that Duncan is dead. She replies and notifies him of the noises she heard.
I have to do everything myself.
Zzzz...
Macbeth realizes what he has done and says it is a "Sorry sight" meaning that his hands which are covered in Duncan's blood is extremely distressing and causes him to feel sorrow. Macbeth also recalls the voices of the servants who witnessed the murder.
The servants cried "God bless us" and "Amen." List’ning their fear I could not say “Amen,” When they did say “God bless us!”
Seeing that Macbeth is stressed about killing the king, his wife reassures him that they should forget about what they have done. Lady Macbeth notices that the daggers must stay in Duncan's room, so they can successfully frame the sleeping servants. However, Macbeth refuses to enter the room again. Now, Lady Macbeth must improvise.
You weakling! You should be ashamed of yourself, give me the dagger!
Lady Macbeth feels like she needs to finish everything for her husband. So, she enters Duncan's room and smears blood all over the sleeping servants, to frame them. She also leaves the bloody dagger with them.
