The 1963 March on Washington attracted about 250,000+ people for a peaceful demonstration to promote Civil Rights and economic equality for African Americans . People walked down the constitution and independence avenues then gathered at the Lincoln Monument. It demanded an end of segregation, fair wages, economic justice, voting rights, education and civil rights protection.

In 1964, Congress passed a set of laws prohibiting discrimination based on color of skin, gender, religion and such. This would ban segregation from all of the United States but there would still be oppressed seen based mainly on gender and race.
TThis gave people the right to vote, regardless of race. It outlawed the discriminatory voting practices adopted in many southern states after the Civil War. This removed the barriers of black enfranchisement in the South.
This act expanded on previous acts and prohibited discrimination concerning sale, rental and financing of hosing based on race, religion, gender and family status.This act also strengthened antilynching laws. It made it a crime to harm civil rights workers.

They were CORE members on a bus trip that would test the Supreme Court decision banning segregated seating on interstate bus routes. Their goal was to provoke a violent reaction that would convince President Kennedy to enforce the law.They taught America the real meaning of raw courage since they were risking their ow life to fight against injustice.
