- Cupid then shot Apollo with his gold arrow that made him fall in love with Daphne.
- Under the spell, Apollo would follow Daphne everywhere. Daphne ran to her father , the river god Peneus, for help.

- I need help. Please free me from Apollo. He won't leave me alone.
- Peneus turned Daphne into a beautiful tree. Apollo used his powers of eternal youth and immortality to make the leaves evergreen.

- Apollo was heart-broken that he lost Daphne. Apollo loved the tree since that was all that was left of her and made a crown from the leaves.
- Oh how I miss Daphne... what a beautiful tree.
