- Holden gets himself into a fight with Stratlader about Jane, Holden's love interest.
- Stop sleeping with Jane, dude! She's mine and I love her!
- On his trip to New York, he meets Ernest's mother on the train trip, and he has a nice conversation with her.
- Is that a Pencey sticker on your suitcase? My son, Ernest, goes to Pencey Prep too!
- Holden talks to Miss Faith Cavendish using a payphone, asking if they could get cocktails together. He misses the opportunity to get drinks with her on the next day.

- Holden goes to a club and meets three girls, in which he dances with the blonde one. She ignores him, but he still enjoyed dancing with her.
