- It was early in the morning when Juana was making breakfast. Than Juana and Kino spot a scorpion on Coyotitos rope. Kino tries to grab it, but Coyotito pulls on the rope and it bites Coyotito on the shoulder.
- Falling Action
- Kino went diving for pearls so he could get enough money to treat Coyotito's wound and with what they found they believed that it could do way more than just treat Coyotito.
- Resolution
- Before
- Juana tells Kino that their house is completely burnt down. All the neighbors rush to control the fire, so their houses don't get ruined by the fire. They think that Kino and Juana died in the fire; They hide in Juan Tomás’s house.
- Theme: Greed Can Make You or Break You
- Trackers are chasing Kino and his family, and they decide to hide in a cave. Then Coyotito starts crying. The trackers think that it's just a coyote crying, so they shoot their rifle where they hear the noise. Unfortunately, the bullet goes right into poor Coyotito.
- Kino throws the pearl back into the water where it belongs, and believe the pearl is evil. Then, they watch the sun as it sets.
- After
- As Kino tries to gain wealth with the pearl, he goes from a happy father to a savage criminal. He lost everything besides getting wealthier.
