- But after signs of awareness of Messi's talent from a club called Barcelona...

- Messi tried out for Barca and the cub was so impressed that they payed for his treatment

- Barca received enormous return on their investment, as Messi blew through the ranks to the top. He was becoming unstoppable
- He was on the first team by 17
- And full international the following year
- He shone even among the greats, Ronaldinho and Eto, who were already on the team
- But missed the successful conclusion to Barca's Champion's League run by having his season ended by a thigh injury
- He also missed three months of the following season with a broken metatarsle
- But the second half of the 2006-07 campaign was when he truly came to age
- He became the youngest Barca player to score a hatrick against its fiercest rival, Real Madrid
- And netted 11 goals out of the last 13 games of the season
- Barca fell short in its title defence in 2007 and lost even more ground to Real Madrid in a difficult 2007-08 campaign.
- Yet, through it all Messi, despite another injury, has been the star
- It was through him that Barca reached the Champions League semifinals
- But the team kept falling short...losing to Manchester United. Their future looked bleak
- But then came Pep Gardiola
- Messi took his game to the next level, and Pep became the driving force
- The young Argentinian scored 38 goals in all competitions helping his team win the Treble...becoming a legend
- And so did Pep
- Messi's legacy continues to this day, even despite the countless injuries he endures
- Nothing is ever likely to faze Messi after coming through his childhood. He has become a God in his own terms
- Messi started out struggling. At a point where his life could turn in any direction, but was given a chance. A chance that he took advantage of. Rewriting his own destiny, he became the greatest ever.
