- Today we will start with acceleration. Acceleration is the rate of change of velocity.

- I don't understand acceleration.
- The formula for acceleration is A= ΔV/ t *we have an example of a problem
- Perhaps If I explain velocity you will understand. Velocity is speed with direction. In order to have acceleration a change in velocity must occur.
- What is speed?
- Good question. Well speed is is the distance an object travels per unit of time.
- I understand now.
- An example is: when you look out the window of a car and notice that you are moving faster than the car next to you. The car next to you is moving, it is just moving slower than your car. You use that other car as a reference point to determine that your car is moving.
- Lastly, I want to talk about reference point. A reference point is a point in space , through this point the motion of an object can be determined.
- Class we are done. You are dismissed.
