- In Paris, A woman whose name was Mathilde Loisel was married to a minor clerk named Monsieur Loisel. The woman thought of herself as deserving for all the luxuries of living. Unfortunately, she had this fate of not having what she was dreaming for.
- Ah! Delicious...there's nothing I like better.
- Conflict
- I don't have an evening dress. Thus, I cant go that affair.
- Perhaps, four hundred francs.
- One evening, her husband came with great enthusiasm, as he thought Mathilde would be delighted with his news. Instead of being happy, Mathilde displayed ungratefulness as she claimed not having anything to wear. Thus, making her husband gave the money to her which he saved for himself.
- What good is that to me?
- Look!, I've got something for you.
- Why?
- How much would a suitable outfit cost?
- Rising Action
- Could I borrow this...just this and nothing else.
- She was able to get herself a new dress, yet still anxious of not having any jewelries to partner with it. Thereafter, her husband seeing his wife upset came up with the suggestion to borrow a jewelry from her friend Mme. Forestier.
