- Authorities are shocked and angry that Oliver asked for more food. Oliver is punished for asking for more food, leading to a chain of events. He was kicked out of the workhouse and sent to work as an apprentice.

- Oliver runs away after being denied food and ends up in London. Artful Dodger leads Oliver into crime. He and others are pick pocketers. Artful Dodger takes Oliver to Fagin where he has the boys steal things from others.

- (4)My names Oliver Twist, I'm not from London.
- Mr. Brownlow realizes how kind Oliver is. He wants to give Oliver a better future. Mr. Brownlow adopts Oliver.
- Oliver you are a great boy. You are brave and above all kind. I would like you to be my son.
