- In act 1 scene 1 basically it introduces the family and what jobs they work or what they dream to do. Walter tries to explain to his wife what he wants to pursue but she doesn't listen. And they are waiting for the check

- Walter is at the bar talking with his buddies about the investment. Meanwhile Ruth and Mama are at home because Ruth is expecting another child. And she doesn't know weather to keep it or not

- Beneatha and Joseph were heading to the theater. Walter and Joseph have a word with each other and things get pretty hostile. And Mama purchases a new home. But Walter wasn't happy about it.

- Walter has been drinking at the bar all day and night because he is depressed that his mom is not believing in him. Then they go to a diner and she gives him the rest of the money to invest in his store.

- They go check out the new house and they give Mama some gifts. The neighbours give them dirty looks. Later on they find out Willy took off with all the money.

- Walter calls Mr. Widner over to take upon his offer to sell the house back to them since they are colored people. But Walter takes pride and owns up to his name and they keep the house . And Walter teaches Travis how to be a man. Mr. Widner tells the family they don't know what they've gotten there selves in to.
