Judas, one of Jesus' disciples, betrayed him to the Romans. Judas told the Romans where Jesus would be, and whilst Jesus was praying in a garden, he was arrested.
Jesus was sentenced to death and was forced to carry a part of the cross through the streets and wear a crown of thorns . Whilst Jesus was walking through the streets some people called him a traitor, and some said that he was innocent. A man named Simon wanted to help Jesus and helped him carry the cross.
He is calling upon the prophet Elijah.
Jesus was taken to a place called Golgotha where he was crucified with two other criminals. Jesus said to God "Sire forgive them, for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:34)
When Jesus was being crucified, Jesus' mother, Mary, and a woman named Mary Magdalene saw him on the cross.
The Jewish leaders also came to see Jesus, and they thought that he was calling upon the prophet Elijah, when Jesus was actually calling upon God (Mark 15:35).
Just before Jesus died he said "It is done", and when Jesus died the curtain in the temple was torn in two (Matthew 27:51)
