טקסט Storyboard

  • Summary: Jack comes back from town dressed with the deepest mourning because supposedly his brother "Ernest" has died and he is telling Miss Prism and Chasuble about the unfortunate event.Explanation: This is dramatic irony because Jack doesn't know that his brother "Ernest"(Algernon) is currently in his home.
  • "Your brother Ernest dead?"
  • "Quite dead"
  • Summary: Jack is telling them about what just happed with his brother's death and Miss Prism responds with "As a man sows so shall he reap".Explanation: This is verbal irony because Miss Prism response to Jack's situation is not expected when they just told you that their family member died.
  • "As a man sows, so shall he reap"
  • Summary: Ernest is about to leave so he is saying his goodbyes to Cecily, but Cecily decides to record his frankness in her diary because she believes it's a good thing about him.Explanation: This is verbal irony because Cecily likes Ernest frankness, but if Ernest were really frank he would tell her what his real identity is.
  • "I think your frankness does you great credit, Ernest. "
  • Summary: Cecily is recording what just happen with Ernest in her diary and Ernest wants to take a look at it, but Cecily tells him to wait until she publishes it.Explanation: This is situational irony because a diary is meant to be kept in secret, but Cecily wants to publish it instead which is not expected to publish your own diary.
  • "You see, it is simply a very young girl's record of her own thoughts & impressions, &consequently meant for publication. When it appears in volume form I hope you will order a copy."
  • "Do you really keep a diary? I'd give anything to look at it. May I?"
  • "Uncle Jack, if you don't shake hands with Ernest, I will never forgive you."
  • Summary: Cecily wants Jack and "Ernest" to shake hands, but "Earnest" is actually Algernon not "Ernest."Explanation: This is dramatic irony because Cecily doesn't know that "Ernest" doesn't actually exist and Algernon is just an impostor.
  • "Never forgive me"
