- Back in Ancient Rome, after Julius Caesar’s assassination, his right hand man Marc Antony had power and loyalty due to his standing when Caesar died.
- At first the two decided to share their power. Marc even divorced his wife to get married to Octavian’s sister, Octavia.
- However, Marc had some competition from Caesar’s adopted son, Octavian.
- This made Octavian furious and angry at Marc for hurting his sister.
- Marc is a traitor to Rome!!
- However, when Marc was going to visit Egypt he met cleopatra. Just like Caesar had, Marc fell in love with cleopatra. He then decided to divorce his wife, Octavian’s sister to marry the queen.
- Marc sent a general to control the situation, which Octavian agreed with. What Octavian did not agree with though was the general keeping the army promised to Marc in Italy.

- However suddenly the Parthians invaded Rome, taking control of Syria.
- Marc then went back to Egypt to beg cleopatra for money so he could go to war to get Rome’s territory back.
- Octavian destroyed the triumvirate and attacked Marc for leaving his sister. Octavian declared war on cleopatra and defeated Marc in a battle. Marc Anthony and cleopatra both committed suicide and left Octavian as ruler
- Marc’s campaign proved to be unsuccessful and Marc was forced to an embarrassing retreat.
