- Cosimo came back and became the leader of all of Florence. He was very successful by not ruling. He filled the signory with the right people and changed the voting rules.
- Cosimo was very modest despite being a rich merchant. He spent money on the city to build monasteries, churches, and statues. He also built the first public library in Florence.
- Cosimo died and was buried in Basilica de San Lorenzo. He had "Pater Patrice", which means "Father of Florence" on his tomb.
