- Sure! It's actually quite simple, but let me tell you.
- Mr. James, I still don't understand how the geologic events from the past are used as one of the evidence of climate change occuring now these days.
- For example, in a Permian era ended about 250 million years ago, there was a massive extinction happened during that time. And that was a volcanic eruptions that triggered global warming to wipe out 96% of marine species. It resulted in a rapid sea-level changing, volcanic eruptions and global warming occuring during the period.
- 70 million years ago, during Cretaceous Era, Earth was going thorugh greenhouse phase. There was an increase of CO2 in the atmosphere that resulted in ocean circulation changed direction in the Atlantic Ocean with two water masses
- Now adays, we can still see the climate change occuring by looking at ice cores of tropical,Antarctica, and greenland mountains and identifying how they are responding to the changes in greenhouse gas levels. Additionally, we can also take a look at tree rings, layders of sedimentary rocks, and more to find the evidence of climate changes.
- Currently, we know that the climate is heating up
- And glaciers melting around the world. Resulting in, rising in water temperature
