- Adverbs can be used to show when and how long. Examples: yesterday shows when temporarily shows how long
- Lisa hurried into another store. She could hear a customer and the cashier talking about a shipment of new items yesterday. She walked between the aisles temporarily, looking for a perfect outfit. She walked up to the cashier and asked where the clothes' store was. The cashier told her that she needed to walk forward until she came across a clothes sign and then turn left. Lisa thanked the cashier and walked out of the store.

- Lisa followed the cashier's directions and walked into the clothes store. Lisa had always come to this store. It was her favorite clothes store. Lisa loved shopping here. Lisa walked right over to the sweater section and looked at the shelves. The shelves were greatly picked over. Lisa chose a sweater that she really liked. Lisa also walked over to the pants section and found a pair of pants she really liked as well.
