טקסט Storyboard

  • This is Abeer and Amir's family. They are almost 2 and imitating their parents at prayer. They are displaying Mead's 1st stage of the Role taking process, the Prepatory Stage. They are mimicking their parents, because they don't understand the meaning behind their actions.
  • Let's play house! I'll be mom and cook dinner. I'll make "molokhiya" tonight
  • Here Amir and Abeer are playing "house". They are now 6 years old. They are pretending to be their parents. There are no rules to the game, they make it along as they go because at this age according to Mead's 2nd Stage of Role Taking, (The Play Stage), children cannot concept rules. When they play pretend, they are reflecting whichever role they are playing, in this case, mom and dad.
  • Ok! I'll be dad and I will pretend I'm on the phone for work!
  • Amir and Abeer are now 8 years old. They are playing pretend again. But they are pretending to own a restaurant . They have a friend who pretends to be a waiter, on who pretends to be a chef and Abeer and Amir are the customers. They are n Mead's 3rd Stage of Role Taking: The Game Stage. They understand that there are many roles in certain situations for things to run smoothly. Like a restaurant!
  • This is Bella and Mark's family. Like Abeer and Amir's family, they kids are mimicking their parents in prayer. Even if they are a part of different religions, their actions are still the same. They are all the same age and in The Prepatory Stage.
  • Let's play house! I'll be mom and cook dinner. I'll make spaghetti and meatballs tonight
  • Also like Abeer and Amir, Bella and Mark are playing "house." While there's a cultural difference in their reflection of their parents' behavior, they are still reflecting Mead's Play Stage.
  • Ok! I'll be dad and I will pretend I'm on the phone for work!
  • Bella and Mark are now 8 years old and playing hockey. They understand that in order to win, that each person has a role and they need to do their job. Goalies stop goals and forwards try and score. They represent Mead's 3rd Stage of Role Taking: The Game Stage. As you see, no matter the cultural difference or the activity, children's actions are more similar in nature than different. They all mimic their parents, reflect their parents and learn the importance of roles, no matter where they are geographically.
