טקסט Storyboard

  • London states, The trouble with him was that he was not able to imagine (65 London). The dog symbolizes the man's inner instinct in contrast to the human logical mind that dominates his thinking. The man's eventual death indicates that one cannot rely solely on an unfeeling mind.
  • One's instinct should not be ignored or dismissed
  • London says, The snow fell without warning upon the man and the fire, and the fire was dead... It was like hearing his own judgment of death (London 73). The fire represents the man's arrogance, as the flames being snuffed out once by himself but twice by nature reflects how arrogance will not protect oneself from reality.
  • Arrogance will not serve oneself in desperate times
  • The man thinks, The running made him feel better... Maybe if he ran far enough, he would find the camp and the boys (London 77). The man's arrogant belief that he is capable of running to the camp based on his physical ability alone implies an overestimation of himself as well as an unreasonable judgment of his situation due to his fear.
  • The constant overestimation of one's capabilities will eventually lead to precarious situations.
