  • The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street
  • In The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street by Rod Serling, one of the main themes is don't take the easy way out. One of the evidence was when people heard a roar that left the neighborhood without power and when they couldn't communicate with the police everyone panicked and Steve and Charlie tried to go for help, but the boy Tommy told them that the aliens wouldn't like that. Everyone thought it was nonsense but Steve asked him more about the aliens and little Tommy explained that in the stories exactly what they were going through happened, Steve believed him and decided to take the easy way out and not go investigate outside the neighborhood. The second evidence was that the entire neighborhood believed that the aliens had arrived and that they had to find him in order to have electricity and be able to be well as they had always been, but that selfish decision was what led the neighbors to suspect everyone. This was a very bad decision because with every passing moment everyone became more suspicious of each other and this would sooner or later lead them to their graves. And the last but not least evidence was when everyone became so desperate that Charlie thought that the person who was coming very far away and that no one could recognize him was the monster and he decided to shoot him but it was a very bad idea because when they checked the body it was Peter. Afterwards everyone suspected Charlie but to save himself he blamed little Tommy who was actually innocent but by taking the easy way everything ended in tragedy. In conclusion, you should not take the easy path because it never turns out the way you expect and that is why decisions should not be made lightly.
