- Why have you been so irritable? You shouldn't be so stressed, you're a kid.
- Teenagers experience emotions stronger than adults because were our brains are still developing
- I don't understand. What about brain structures?
- As an adult you have less impulsivity, more emotional control, and you're usually less expressive which all occurs in your prefrontal lobe
- What about your temporal and occipital lobe?
- Your temporal lobe can control memory and as I get older I can start to have trouble remembering things. The occipital lobe usually controls sight and as I age I can also have a harder time seeing things
- So why are you so emotional a lot of the time?
- Does this apply to developmental psychology?
- Because the amygdala is what teenagers rely on for problem solving and things like that. Our prefrontal cortex isn't fully developed so when we make rational decisions it can make it seem like were more emotional
- Yes it also applies to cognitive psychology and personality psychology
- This is all starting to make sense
- Yeah, were really not all that complicated
