Once Napoleon was back from Elba, he regained power and marched north. He defeated the Prussians at Ligny. They were still a threat, however, so he had to defeat the British army before the Prussians regrouped.
On the morning of June 18, the Battle of Waterloo started. The British general, Arthur Wellesley, knew what he had to do.
