Gene is waiting for his train to take him to Vermont to go and visit Leper.
Excuse me, Where can i get a cab?
Ummm... well we do not have cabs here in Vermont, sorry.
Gene is approaching Lepers house, where there is a gold star witch is where Leper stood beckoning Gene into the house.
Leper is telling Gene how he "escaped" the army
"You don't have to yell at me, there nothing wrong with my hearing" )144).
"You're screwed for life, that's what a Section Eight discharge means"(Knowles 144).
"Leper! What is it? Whats the matter, Leper? Leper!" (148).
After lunch Leper and Gene went out for a walk
"Snow White with Brinker's face on her. There's a picture,' then he broke into sobs" (148).
"Shut up!" "do you think i care! I don't care what happened to you, Leper" (151).
Gene leaves Leper during the walk because he is done hearing about him complain.
"Then they grabbed me and there were arms and legs and heads everywhere and i couldn't tell when any minute-" (151).
