- Hey, can you help me with my upcoming biology test?
- So, what do you need help with?
- Well, its a test about osmosis.
- Wow, I just had a biology test about osmosis too a couple days ago. I can definitelyhelp you.
- Hmm, I can remember that. What about hypertonic, hypotonic, and isotonic?
- Ok, so osmosis is the movement of molecules across a selectively permeable membrane. They move from low to high concentration solutions.
- Hypertonic solutions have higher solute concentration while hypotonic solutions have lower solute concentration. For isotonic solutions, they have the same solute concentration as a cell and they neither shrink or grow in size.
- That's quite a lot of information. I hope I can remember all of that.
- Oh yeah, also the membrane that the molecules go through are made of phospholipids and proteins.
- Phospholipids? Never heard of that before. Anyways, I'm going to study more, thanks for the help.
- Hey! You better not fail the test after I helped you!
