- This is my plantation. I am growing cotton and tobacco as cash crops. These slaves are here to do the work.

- I will put them to work in the fields for cash crops. We will make more profit that way.
- Once we get to America, i will sell some of these men for slaves and keep the rest.
- I don't know whats happening or where i'm going. We've been in here for 3 weeks already and had very little to eat. Many people have already died. Im so scared.

- I cant believe this slavery thing is spreading so fast. None of us deserve to live like this.
- This slavery idea was genius! I have been making so much profit, and i haven't done any work.
- On the plantations, the owner would not do any work. He would hire slaves to do it all. Cash crops were grown for profits. Some cash crops included tobacco, cotton and sugar.
- The business person is doing the most he can to make as much profit as possible. The slaves under the deck are suffering from hunger and dying.
- Slavery was spreading fast. The slaves were suffering while the plantation owners were making a lot of money.
