- mountain men traded fur for supplies. They would work hard and die young .They created trails to help with the westward expansion.

- a very dangerous trail where people would get very sick and die. you would not have a high chance of survival on the trail in the winter time. the trail was used by many people .

- These people though their purpose in life was to spread the word of god. they inspired people to move with them.

- America wanted more land than Mexico so america went to war with Mexico The US won and got more land near the west 
- after their founder died they wanted to start a new settlement and they traveled to Utah. Since many Mormons moved it made more Americans move west 
- Many people moved to California because people were finding gold because of this many people moved west
