- Climax:When Jonas is doing training, he has a question. He asks the giver what happens when someone gets released. The giver does his best to describe the process, then Jonas says that his dad had released a new child that morning, and the giver says that he could watch it if he wanted to, Jonas agrees. During the video Jonas sees his dad poison the new child, put him in a box and send him down a shoot. Jonas gets many different emotions. He feels anger, confusion, disappointment, and the desire to make a difference. This is the turning point in the passage.
- Bye Bye!!
- Falling Action:Jonas is escaping from the community with gabriel. There are search plains trying to find them with thermal scopes but each time they go over head, Jonas uses his memories of the snow to make them cold. They are on the move for several days and they are both starting to collapse from exsotion and starvation.
- Resolution:Jonas makes it to the mountains, and finally the search planes stop coming. Jonas uses the last of his memories of food and warmth, which means that his journey will be even more painful. Finally he makes it to the top of a familiar hill, at the top of the hill is a sled. From the top of the hill Jonas can see a house with colorful lights, family, warmth, and love. He uses the last of his energy to climb onto the sled with Gabriel. They both pass away from cold, hunger, and exposition on their way down.
