- In 1803, the US bought the Louisiana Territory from France for $15 million dollars and acquired approximately 827,000 square miles of land because they needed lots of land.

- Many Mexicans became unhappy with their Spanish rulers because Spain had the best jobs and Mexico had the worst jobs. Spain also increased the taxes for Mexico just to help pay for their wars in Europe. The Mexicans felt like they weren't being treated fairly.

- Miguel Hidalgo is a priest living in Spain who was the one who rose a rebellion with the lower class in the early 1800's because he wanted the Mexicans to break free of Spanish Rule.

- A person who wants war on a country. Filibusters act for their benefit, and do not carry out the plan of any government.
- The Battle of Medina was known as the bloodiest battle in military history during the early 19th century. It took place in 1813 and many were killed in a war to declare independence for Texas
- The Constitution of 1824 was when Mexico became a federal republic and governments were formed and people were able to pick their own leaders. Mexico officially adopted the Federal Constitution of 1824.
