- Alfredo's father, Don Julian, and sister, Carmen, are chatting about him. Carmen questions the connection between Alfredo and Esperanza.
- CLIMAX
- Don Julian and Alfredo headed to Judge Del Valle's residence nearby. He met Judge's sister-in-law Julia Salas there.As Alfredo made increasingly frequent trips to Judge's home, he became aware that he had fallen in love with Julia even though he was engaged.
- FALLING ACTION
- Esperanza started to have doubts about Alfredo because of his frequent trips to the residence of Judge del Valle. When she questioned Alfredo what he was doing and where he went after every mass, Alfredo stolidly lied and told that he leaves for home early due to work.
- DENOUEMENT / RESOLUTION
- After the procession, Alfredo saw Esperanza but persisted in approaching Julia since he thought she had departed. She sends Alfredo best wishes for his impending May wedding, so when he offered an invitation for her to attend, she gladly accepted. In order to honor Alfredo's ongoing connection with Esperanza, Julia said him farewell before they both returned home.
- Esperanza greeted Alfredo with an issue about Note Carrier Calixta, and they had an argument. Esperanza had also brought up Alfredo's other relationship, asking him why he did it and urging Alfredo to pick between the two of them.
- Esperanza and Alfredo got married. Eight years later, Alfredo traveled to the neighborhood of Julia's hometown to look for work while simultaneously conducting a search for Julia. She discovered the unmarried Julia at the home, they spoke, and he realized he had lost interest in her.
