During the night fall, the campfires lit up the skies. The Native Americans did not know how to react to this sudden company.
In future years the new comers had started a colony, building schools and other building/houses for the themselves. The Native Americans tried to stop them some of the time causing fights, but the majority of them just let it happen.
New schools were then founded due to this settlement to "fix" the Native Americans. Trying to destroy their history, language, names, and traditions. The children along with Jim Thorpe were forced out of their homes and sent to a school where they were made to change their clothing and hair. This change caused Jim Thorpe to runaway many times and for his only escape in the school, was his soon to be passion of athletics.
