- The exposition of the story Tenderness is there was an 18-year-old boy named Eric that was released from juvenile detention for murdering his parents. He has also murdered two other girls before his parents but no one has ever caught him. He finds this drive when killing these girls. He calls it Tenderness. Lori Cranston is a 15-year-old girl that runs away from home. She likes receiving attention from men. She is also looking for someone to be tender with.
- Climax
- Eric gets released from jail. Lori Cranston has just run away from home and she was in the same town where Eric was going to stay at. She would see Eric all over the news and she wanted to meet him. She had this need to see him. She wanted to be Tender with him.
- Falling action
- There are detectives out for Eric and there is proof that he committed the murder of the two females. They all had similar characteristics to his mother. They had this long dark hair. He killed the woman that look like his mother. They sent out a detective that had those characteristics to set Eric up. Lori found this out and she wanted to help Eric. Before he met up with the undercover detective she broke into his car one day and waited for him. When he found her she told him about what was going to happen.
- Resolution
- Lori convinced Eric to run away with her. While Lori was with Eric he killed two other women. The detectives know that Eric is with a runaway 15-year-old and they believe that he has kidnapped her and is planning to kill her too. Eric was planning on killing Lori for a while but they ended up falling in love. When the detectives where after them they tried escaping on a boat.
- When the detectives tried to get Eric, Lori falls overboard. Eric tried to save her but they had hold of him. She couldn't swim. She ended up drowning and they blamed it on Eric. Eric was then taken to jail for the murders of five women.
- Eric was taken to jail and he was sentenced to the death penalty. Even though he felt guilty of the murders he was sad that he lost his tender love.
