First the Cherokee traded with the french with brass kettles, textiles, scissors and knives, guns and ammunition, metal hatchets and hoes, and trinkets were exchanged for native deerskin, beeswax, and river cane baskets. Then the British made a treaty with the Cherokee to fight with them (for protection)
Then the French and Indian war consisting until 1754 – 1763. And after became the Cherokee war which The British and the Cherokee had been allies at the start of the war, but each party had suspected the other of betrayals. And after that the Cherokee lost lots of land. Which became a turning point.
The relationship between the British and the Cherokee. Through trade, the Cherokee and British forged a strong alliance. The Cherokee were dependent upon British trade goods. And the British needed the Cherokee as a defense against French attacks. The Cherokee allowed the British to build forts on their lands and fought alongside the British.
